Not properly described, "small budget", but this set of barrels has a bulge right in front of the Krupp markings on the right barrel. Small, but very near the chambers, in a very bad place. Still has value, for early style, ejector for end and as a parts barrel. But cuts the value down by 80% to me. To me I do not care what it measures I wont shoot that barrel. Once buldged in front of the chamber, I figure all nine lives are used up.

Current bidis $889.00. Wow. Seller has corrected or updated his listing to “has small bulge on right barrel”. We are talking about a clearly seen bulge, four inches from the breech face. I know 32” early Fox ejector barrels are rare. I guess the buyer will decide how bad the bulge area is, or maybe will just send it out to have it sleeved. The barrels could be saved or even shot as is, if you are brave enough.

How did you detect the barrel bulge? For the life of me I don’t see it.

Bulge starts where the angled scratch can be seen on the top photo. I saw it looking at the pictures on my home computer screen. Then I went and looked at the description and wondered what a small budget was. Message the seller to confirm it has a bulge. He did confirm it does. I think his description got autocorrected from bulge to budget. Honest mistake, seller was upright and answered it clearly.

A bulge near the chamber is a death sentence for the original configuration of the barrels. I went through that with a recent project

Eightbore, would you shoot them as is, or think of them as a sleeving project? Just curious. It looks like an obstructed bore was the cause but it might be a case of forcing cones altered too much. A close inspection might tell the truth. Once bulged takes it out of my comfort zone and certainly that close to peak pressures.

I will never again attempt to repair a bulged barrel on a double. Been down that road, got that t-shirt.

32" Fox barrels are very nice. I have three 32" barreled Fox guns. I also have a set of brand new Fox 32" barrels that I bought several years ago. They were never blued, no beads, and never fitted to a gun. They are, however, chambered (2 3/4"), choked, roll stamped, rib matted and inscribed. They await my deciding on the right Fox to which I will have them fitted. It will likely be my A grade that has original length 32" barrels that are choked .020" and .020". A set of tightly choked barrels would "round it out" rather nicely, I think.

Dents can usually be sorted out rather easily, unless creased badly.
