Anyone have experience with the low recoil offering?

They claim to be loaded to "moderate pressure" and "suitable for vintage firearms."

Many years ago I bought a very large quantity of the B&P High Pheasant (sure miss those) and as that supply is dwindling i'm investigating the other options.

I also still have a few flats of the 2 1/2 inch low pressure Eley loads but those don't seem to be available anymore either.

Happy to hear about other lower pressure offerings besides RST. Nothing wrong with RST just like to know the various options.

I bought a flat last year of the 3/4 oz and the 7/8 oz.
I have shot the 3/4 oz in my 12 gauge Dickson that weighs in at 6 pounds.
Very pleasant shells to shoot.

I bought a couple flats last year for doves in my twist hammer gun but have not used them yet. Dealer I went to told me he couldn't get them in fast enough because the old fart target shooters loved them. All reports favorable so far.

We not so "young fart" shooters like them as well. Tough to find and a bit pricey but easy on the gun, most importantly, and the shoulder as well. Have not tried to reload them yet, but will.

Don't you just love advertising. "Custom blended powders reduce recoil."
Reducing shot load or reducing velocity reduces recoil.

I have shot about 10 flats so far of the 3/4 oz. 2 1/2" shells in my vintage English guns and they are great. RST are not available in Canada and these are the only reasonable choice for 2 1/2" shells here. The Gamebore field loads are available but at $25.00 a box but I'm not rich enough to burn them up on clays.
I urge everyone to keep purchasing these so that they are not discontinued. Way more effective than the Winchester low recoil, low noise, 26gm in my opinion.
I have no idea what the pressure is but I'm sure it is not very high. It would be hard to generate more than 8ooo psi, even with the fastest powders in a 3/4 oz. 1200 fps 12 ga. load.

I checked with the distributor Huntstuff who said it was 6700 psi as per Kent.

FYI I sent Kent a message via Facebook and they said that the 3/4 oz load was 6,800 PSI and the 7/8 oz load was 6,700 PSI. Hard to beat those numbers, I'll definitely be ordering some.

If one is going to shoot loads with pressures that low remember to keep them at room temperature. As you know temperature can wreak havoc with the pressure of loads since pressure and temperature is a non-linear function. I've seen wads get stuck in barrels just this past season. The user said he had left the shells in the truck overnight and it went below 0 degrees F. They were very low pressure factory loads.
My practice, not saying you should do it, that if a gun is proofed for a certainly service pressure all other things being equal one can just shoot loads within that pressure.

I avoid going over or lots lower, especially in temperature extremes.

I've been shooting the 2 1/2" as well and really like them. However, I believe RST are available through Prophet River. Frieght is a bit steep sending them all the way to Alberta and then back to Ontario but might be a bit better for you, being based in Calgary.

I just checked the Prophet River website and indeed they are available. They are however, on the pricey side. I have been able to get the Kent 2 1/2" for under $8.00 a box when I buy 10 cases, which is half the price of the RST shells.

Lol, didn’t say the were cheap. But we aren’t being gouged either. When I asked, Prophet River said “take the US RST price, do the exchange, that’s our price plus shipping”.

Good to hear Kent has some light, low pressure loads. A lot of the Brit stuff is good, but what you often see are hunting loads rather than target loads.

If you need low pressure loads, reloading is also an excellent option. Especially in 12ga, there really isn't much reason to reload unless it's to reduce pressure and/or put together light loads. Pretty much the same story with 20's. The only reason I reload 20's these days is because I really like shooting 3/4 oz. And with a decent hull (I reload mainly Rem Gun Clubs) and the Claybuster 3/4 oz wad, you can make yourself some nice, light target loads.

You guys need to learn how to reload. Then there's no hunting for what you want - it's at your finger tips. From 2" to 3 1/2, low pressure to magnum, even black powder if you want. It's a rewarding hobby as much as shooting the old guns when you make your own ammo to shoot in them.

I used to reload extensively for when I shot a lot of rifles and pistols. Reloaded 28 ga shells to save money for a while. I don't have the time these days. With job and life I'd rather spend the limited free time I have pursuing my other hobbies.

So it is nice to have another low pressure option on the market.

Reloading gives me so much flexibility in ammo. Low pressure, multiple shot sizes, multiple payloads, high velocity, low velocity, lead or Bismuth, in five different gauges and four different lengths. I do not care about cost savings which can be almost nothing to over 70%, depending on what loads I am making. I like knowing that I can make whatever I think I need for the job.

But I find I just enjoy loading as part of the entire process. I have a hydraulic Spolar setup and a full set of Mec 9000 hydraulic loaders but was looking at an old pair of 600Jr. loaders last week thinkg that they might be nice to set up for 2 1/2" 12's to be roll crimped or 3" .410's for later dove season.

Kent offers a few nice factory load but they are impossible to find around me and by the time I pay for shipping I could just load them myself.

Well, when I looked at the Kent website to get more information on them and read the warning at the bottom of the page on these loads I said to myself "Well, the heck with them!" If there's any chance that they might reduce my chances of reproducing I'm saying nix on them! I'm 67, but just because there's snow on the roof ................

Wonder how that would happen, anyway ............... shoot myself between the legs?
