A friend bought an old country store building and in cleaning it out we found several boxes worth of mixed old shells. Everything from 00 buck to 7.5's Rem and Win both. Are they worth anything to collectors or do I just shoot them at appropriate targets if they will ignite.

Thanks.

docbill, it depends on how old the mixed shells turn out to be. There's a good collectible market for old shells, so I'd reccomend visiting some shell collector sites or the ammo section of the gun auction/sales sites,i.e. gunbroker, gunsamerica etc. Kind of like collectible coins, depends on whatcha got...Geo

Remington fully incorporated the 'new' star crimp by 1947. I would imagine that Winchester and Western were onboard about the same time. I guess that helps put a minimum age to your roll crimped shells.

Any old boxes?, they can be worth a bit, for the right ones, though I don't know which ones they might be...

There are no boxes in the bunch, just loose shells.
