A beautiful little 410 worthy of tons of good quail and dove hunting.
Terry, I like Jaycee's pix better.

VERY NICE!!!! I'd sure like to see what that little baby could on some wild bobwhites! Congrats on beautiful and interesting gun!

Nice H&H.
Who used to make it for H&H?
H&H absorbed WC SCOTT at some point and funneled them into the line I suppose.
Even still,Its an H&H,and very rare indeed.
NICE.............Made my day.

Well, I must say I was disappointed in the gun. Now, hold on. For some reason I was thinking it was a Royal Sidelock Ejector. What a prize that would be. But, I just love that gun and would trade most of mine for it. You are fortunate to be the caretaker of this one.
Daryl,
I wish it was a Royal too !! Quite frankly I have neer seen a
.410 Royal - I know they advertise them but the must be scarce as well. Lots of 12 and 20 bore, I have one of each but no .410 - SORRY !

Jim, all of the H and H guns are neat. For that matter, the Harris Holland guns I have seen are very cool, too. I hunted with a nice Royal 20 bore a couple of years ago. Only a loaner gun for the owner, but he wanted to shoot my 3 barrel gun, and for that matter, did it well. Almost a tripple on bobs, but the third trigger, the rearest one, eluded him. I'll bet your 410 would be the most fun grown man's toy.
The breech balls look a lot like some put out by A.A. Brown.
After a bit of reading in Gabriel's book on 410s, I think it's possibly a Northwood model H&H. If so, it was one of possibly only four produced. S/N' 37140, 37141, 37443, and 37021.
I think I see that your gun is 37021 from all the pix. Gabriel says: "... A fourth 410, SN 37021, sold in May 1961. It has double triggers, ejectors, and 27-inch barrels. ..."
In a previous paragraph, Gabriel states: "This Northwood gun was made 'to Holland & Holland specifications" off premises but 'shot and regulated' by Holland & Holland to a very high level of workmanship. A Birmingham consortium led by Vic Simmons built these guns. ..."
If your gun is indeed 37021 as I think I can make out in the pix, I'd recommend you buy Ronald S. Gabriel's book; American & British 410 Shotguns, if you don't already have a copy.

Thank You Chuck,
If you look at the original post, I do I.D. the gun as a Northwood #37021. In the pics. if you look at the one of the bottom of the receiver you are able to see the s/n on the trigger guard as well as Northwood Collection on the receiver.
I have not seen the book but will get a copy if I can locate one. Again thank you for your interest in this ( almost one of
a kind ) little treasure. If you are ever in VA or Fl let me know - would love to show it to you.

Jim,
Thank you for that invitation. I may just take you up on that. I was in VA the week of Thanksgiving to see my brother at NASA Langley (Norfolk) and then drove across to Roanoake to see Gunter Pfrommer and drop off a 20g NID for a facelift. If my brother continues his work with NASA or I need to see Gunter again, I'm sure I'll have reason to be in the neighborhood, and now, one more reason...a very good reason.
I think the mentioning of your gun in the book adds to its history/provenance. You have quite a treasure there. I recommend you get one soon as these books tend to be published in short runs and then become rare/expensive. It's from Krause Publishing. Amazon has them.

A sweet little gun indeed! H&H is my favorite gun maker.
Some pics of my H&H .410 on 1st page of this old post. Lots of looks but no interest - comments pro or con. Hmmm ! not typical of this bunch !
It is a sweet little shotgun. From my reading, I have learned that guns made by another maker, such as yours, are still superb guns. "Whilst we still make our Model No. 1....", a quote from William Powell's brochure. Their Continental line SxSs are made by Arrieta(?) and the O/Us are made by one of the Rizzinis(?). H&H models such as the 'Badminton' and 'Dominion' are fine examples of the gunmaker's trade. As for hunting with a .410, I have taken quite a few Ruffed Grouse with my DeHaan SO model. It is certainly challenging! Cheers!
Almost certainley W.& C.Scott.
