Drew, Both Obama and Trump said their priority was deporting alien criminals which I think makes good sense. Both have caught a bunch of them. The current influx from south of the border seems predominately ordinary people trying to escape unlivable conditions. Saying that probably brands me a bleeding heart. Part of the divide here is that my experience is mainly rural. I realize there are many urban communities with problems I haven't seen first hand. A great deal of those problems though would gradually fade if people there had access 1) to jobs that pay a living wage, and 2) decent educational opportunities. The jobs need to come first. Ps: What does this have to do with planting trees? There is a connection. Planting trees and investing in run down communities are both acts of faith in a future we may not live to see but which we believe need our support.
