I know they've been out of production for many years, but I've got an old one that was given to me, with the bronze mesh worn out. I ordered some to replace it, just to get it back like new. I've never used one. Weren't they used primarily for scrubbing lead out of the bore? SRH May God bless America and those who defend her.
