Under the US System you wouldn't have paid $60,000 because a responsible person would have had medical insurance. And If I remember in one of your posts today...you said you were like 78 so you would have been covered under Medicare for at least most of that. Covered for even more if you had suplimental insurance.

And how much you did pay would have been determined by how good an insurance policy you got.
