Ed, you're saying that the way back for the United States is to let the rich get richer while all others fall back. The middle class is doing worse than it was decades ago. That's progress?

The United States became the most pervasive empire the world had ever seen by its resourcefulness, energetic imagination, intellectual capacity in industry, the arts, innovation. It's now runs on greed that precipitated the Recession.

What's forgotten in all this is that the IT revolution of the iPod, Internet, micro processors, GPS and so on is driven by fundamental technologies developed for the military, energy and spy agencies that were paid for by Mr. Ed Good.

Resurrection of the America I love will take more than filling the pockets of the one per cent. It's American citizens who deserve special treatment, not the hedge fund managers and the CEOs who are doing just fine, thank you.

Many Americans go along with this non-regulated laissez-faire nonsense because, like Napoleon expecting every soldier to have a marshal's baton in his kitbag, they dream of some day being that one per cent!
