By your terminology, transition- does this M70 have the first series rear top tang- aka- "Cloverleaf" or the later series- in spite of all the extra drilled and tapped holes in the receiver, and I agree, a Pachmayr low-swing mount seems a likely SWAG here, you do have one solid thing going for you-- pre-1950 means the single cut and then lead lapped barrel boring process- 11 minutes- post 1951 M70's, including the later M70 FW- used a button broach rifling- except for the NM Target series- Can we see some good detailed fotos please? What is the buttstock wearing- a red solid original Winchester pad, or a steel spurred and checkered butt plate, and what is the LOP- usually about 13 & 5/8". Thanks
