On another photo of the receiver there is Crown over a Gothic letter, a German Army inspection/acceptance mark. So this is clearly a reworked (sporterized) German Mauser as done after WWI. A very nicely done specimen I must add.

Jani thanks - I read elsewhere that if the Reichsadler did not have a Crown over it, it was after the Kaiser was deposed.
