I've used Wonko's method (acetone and alcohol) for stripping stocks and forends with great success. Soaking the wood in these solutions really seems to take them down to bare wood with no damage. Finishing from that point is easy.

However I am preparing to strip a Parker Trojan and the safety lever and jacket and the safety pin are still in the stock and I'm afraid to take them out. They seem to be in pretty tight. What I'm wondering is, can I leave the parts on the stock and soak these parts in the acetone and alcohol without damaging them? If so, it will make the job much easier.
