Lay in a stock of canned kippers - the only field lunch I can bring that my dog would rather roll in than eat. Kipper breath covers my scent and confuses the grouse; they do not recognize smoked herring as a natural enemy.

A flat can of tinned fish and a few nice chestnut crab apples go in the left pocket of my old strap vest, along with a packet of TP and a pocket knife. A handful of 20ga. #8s in the right pocket, and I'm good to go for the day. Hunting is best when you keep it uncomplicated!
