also, when you drop a rod with a brass tip down the bore and it goes clink when it hits bottom, that is a good sign...however, when you hear clunk, then there could be a load or patch down there...
time to pour in the motor oil and let her soak for ah while...before you start poking pins in the touch hole or removing the clean out screw...and certainly do not engage a ball pulling screw, until you are sure that it is safe to do so...
