Just a thought - if you donated them to a local library, could you take a tax deduction?

My mother just passed away in Feb and my brother and I have a lot of old leather bound books(mostly first editions) that my father had collected.I did find a few auction houses that specialize in rare books and would be happy to forward the list if them to you if you like.I have not had a chance to get a list to them yet so I have no clue if it is the best way.

Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. My father passed away a number of years ago. He really like his military history and compiled a small collection of books. My mother kept these books as a reminder, but now can let them go. I will contact those who've expressed interest tonight.

Chris: Civil War books were my "thing" before guns were, and I learned and collected a lot at over the last 15 years, including reference books and dealers, good and bad. As with guns, you may or may not have something special, and I'd be happy to help you figure that out. PM me and we can discuss, if you wish. TT
