Some here may recall some questions I posted about an 1883 Colt 10 ga that was badly off face in an unusual manner in that the gap was at the top of the breech face.

This gun had been worked on by a sledgehammer gunsmith sometime in it’s past in an attempt to put it back on face. Thanks to the experts here who suggested a lot of expert advice.

I finally decided to send the gun to Steve Bertram website

I mailed the gun to Steve and picked it up in person on my way back from a trip to Denver. I would just like to tell you all that Steve is an excellent double gun smith that did an super job on my Colt. This was a fairly tough job and somewhat unusual and he did a great job at a very fair price.

Ditto! Steve has worked on an Elsie hammer gun, and a couple of my Lefevers for me. Excellent work at a fair price, and a good guy to boot!

I like seeing good things said about a smith every now and then rather than all the negative stuff.

I know Steve and have had him do some work for me on my Fox A-Grade 16ga. Steve fit a new hammer, adjusted the trigger pulls on both barrels, and did it with a great turn around time.

Steve is a great guy that loves old double guns and I'll be sending him more work in the future.

I feel really lucky, he's only 20 miles from my house!

Exchanged emails and talked with Steve on the phone, hoping to visit his shop on my many trips to Denver for business recently. Unfortunately my work schedule didn't allow a trip to Boulder for a shop visit.

My loss I'm sure, as he was very pleasant to talk with and for a busy gunsmith sounded very accomodating!
