I realize this is primarily a shotgun forum, but I am running out of places to find any information on this gun. A fellow has an Australian rifle marked "Cougar". It is a 243. The barrels are marked Laufstahl. I've searched the net and can't find a thing. Anyone ever heard of these or have any info on them? Thanks, George

"Laufstahl" would be barrel steel or gun barrel steel. So, the tubes would probably be German. Do you mean Australian or Austrian? If Austrian, it could be one w/ German tubes by Krupp(Krupp Laufstahl, Special Gewehr-Lauf-Stahl, Krupp-Inerso-Laufstahl).

George, I believe that is an early Voere model.
They were located in Kufstein, Austria. Later absorbed by Mauser-Werke.
