Jager:

I concur even though from time to time I question how some of the monies are spent by organizations who support our way of life. But one person or one entity cannot make a difference. It takes a constant vigil on all fronts. Some can't remember, due to our introduction in time into this experiment labeled Democracy and others, due to time, may have forgotten just how many liberties we once had. As I entered the cycle near the gunban of 1968 and my 2 boys, post 9/11, will not know the experience of how it once was. But we must continue to make our presence and ideals known. Just a stump for this a.m.

Kind Regards,

Raimey

You might want to contact Jos van Helden and Robert Thissen in Maasbracht http://www.ht-antiqueguns.com for additional info on your combination gun and how to keep it. It is unlikely we will ever know for certain who made it (this is a common problem with German guns) but it looks like a good one.

No deer control problems in Holland? That is kind of a cannon for roe deer, but if that gets you the permit....

Ok, some more pictures.

Here some high quality close ups of the proofing and what I think is the gun manufacturers mark...

Note the WK and EH letters on the 3 last pictures...

What a wonderful Combo William.I agree with that it was more than likely a Merkel action made guild gun.
Your info about the gun laws in Holland is scary, sounds like what Obama/Hillary party would want here if they get their way.Lets hope it will help shake up a few to renew join the NRA and vote against the socialists party here
I am almost afraid to ask what would happen of you did not take the gun and fire it every month?Just a guess but I doubt there much crime commited with that type of gun anywhere in the world and to alter/or destroy what craftsman produced 90 years ago would be a crime !To blame Guns for causing crime are like Rosie O'Donnell blaming the fork for making her fat.
Thanks for posting the pics !

Wm2,

Welcome to the Board. We all wish you could keep and use the firearm as a family heirloom.

If, however, you choose to sell it, there is a part of this Board that you can advertise on. I do not know what Netherlands export laws are, but you can likely find that out easily. I imagine some member of this Board can give you an idea what such a fine combination firearm could bring. Then, at least, you would see it in appreciative hands.

Regards, Tim

William 2: I would seriously consider moving to a country that the anti-gun nuts have not already taken over (I'm considering the same thing). You have a very fine German Guild Gun and a family heirloom. Do you have political representatives there who could be enlisted to change your gun laws where they would make some common sense? Throughout history Hollanders provided some of the best soldiers in the world.

Best Regards & Welcome, George

To be honest, I do not think that strict gun laws are a bad thing. In Holland, there are VERY strict gun laws, but if I really wanted to I COULD buy myself that Ak47 legally.

If you are willing to fire your weapons at a range regularly you can legally own upto 5 semi automatic guns/rifles/pistols. Only restriction an semi automatics is the fact that their fully auto setting must be disabled (you most likely know how easely THAT can be "reversed").

The only things that are strictly forbidden by law over here are weapons build for continuous automatic fire (uzi, SAW, miniguns etz.) and of course explosives based weapons.

You however DO need a permit own a weapon, you also need to register every weapon you own and fire it regularly at a shooting range.

The problem with this weapon is, that I would rather NOT fire it as it is an antique.

I like guns, just like the rest of you guys, but that does not mean that I think that gun controll is a BAD thing.

As it is very hard to come by guns in Holland, weapon related crime rates are LOW in holland, same goes for murders, let alone Columbine style mass killings by a loon.

What I mean to say is this, don't be to negative about gun controll laws, they might curtail your "god given right to bear firearms" a bit, but they also make the world a bit safer for everyone (And NO, I am not a socialist or liberal)

Gr.

William
