I just shipped a barreled action to Kreighoff in PA from north LA for $8 with 3 day delivery. If you have DHL service in your area it is worth checking them out. There tracking good and service exceptional the price is less than half. bill

Did they know what it was? "The following commodities are NOT acceptable for transport by DHL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This is a result of a policy decision, following the full consideration of Operational, Legal and Risk Management implications. Animals Bullion Currency Dangerous goods, hazardous or combustible materials (as defined in IATA regulations) including asbestos Drugs / Narcotics (illegal) Firearms, parts thereof and ammunition (Firearm parts may be acceptable for carriage domestically within USA, please contact DHL Worldwide Express for details)"http://www.dhl-usa.com/intlsvcs/wrdusa/commod/Guidelines.asp?nav=InternationalService/CtryDet

DHL has become impossible for gun shipment as far as I know for the common person. Something called "dealer to dealer" for non operational pieces of firearms is still possible with insurance.

As far as I can tell you can't use them even if you have a FFL(01 Dealer,O3 C&R as well as pawn shop and gunsmith)as they will not accept guns.An unlicensed indivdual you still can use USPS for long guns and parts.

i ran into the same dogma with UPS here. argued for 15 minutes one day; even had copies of the federal regs. finally the UPS clerk said "OH! i'm not arguing about the LAW. this is our POLICY!" (that policy being they won't accept shipments from non-licensee's except to the original manufacturer, which in that case we blew up in WWII). fed-ex will take long guns from an individual but they're expensive. after starting to dispose of stuff on gunbroker, it's been USPS all the way and i couldn't ask for anyone to be more amenable. weird, huh.
what good does it do to have laws that allow us to do stuff when the firms doing it refuse to just out of some banal policy.

Service all depends on where you are...I have run into problems with all the usual suspects. I will say that DHL/what was Airborne are pretty up front with what they won't do. There is no law saying they have to and all we can ask is that the shipper follow company policy. With USPS, UPS and FedEx, it is the luck of the draw with the personnel found.

The PO will read their regs and follow them. Get a green clerk and you might get to stand in the corner for a few minutes while they do so.

Received a Ebay purchase delivery from DHL delivered to my front door in an ice storm. Package was ripped open and contents missing. I saw the guy drop it off and I was busy so I did not go to the front door for over an hour. I filed a claim about three weeks ago. I have not heard anything since. No way someone ripped it open on my front door step so go figure. Can't believe the guy went up the icy stairs in the first place.
So many guns, so little time!
