Depends on which birds your talking about.

Old squaws are alright. Make pretty good jerky. We eat a lot number of goldeneyes without a problem. Scoters make jerky but its a bit strong without heavy soaking in carbonated pop. Eiders are a different story. We have given them to lobster fishermen in the past to catch much more tasty game. Fresh lobsters in Maine. YUM.

Great pics! As an inveterate diving duck hunter I am jealous. I understand there is a limited amount of seaduck hunting on Lake Superior, but I've never tried it. We shoot the occasional surf or white-winged scoter here. Usually quite a few goldeneyes appear late in the season, but I usually pass them up along with the common mergansers.

Great shots, love the decoys!! When growing up in Vermont we hunted alot of ducks. Whistlers, Blacks,Mallards, Bluebills, etc.
I did alot of carving of wooden and cork decoys. They're still in the barn at my folks house. It's been more than 20 years since they've seen the water. In Utah it's alot of mud and pretty good hunting. Many private clubs.
We spend our free time chasing pointing dogs

Please do not insult the intelligence of my dogs.

I raise, breed, train, test and hunt only champion Chesapeake Bays.
