Some of you older guys might remember him being here on the board and having a chicken dance every year down in Texas. Haven't heard from him in years. Do any of you guys know him or have you heard from him?

I was thinking of him a week or so ago. He posted on the damascus/9 finger board for a bit after he sort of faded from here. I THINK (someone please correct me if I mis-recall, this was about 5 years ago) he had a medical condition that he was beginning treatment. The 9 finger board fizzled out, and I heard no further word of him.

Perhaps he changed hobbies, and became involved in some other passion.

I know that many bail out of the internet gun forum world, but few actually give up double guns to "become involved in some other passion". The double gun passion is usually a "til death do us part" sort of thing after trying many other recreational pursuits.

He was a very clever guy. I thought he was a firefighter some where in Texas. Folks in that profession usually stay put. Any Texas firemenout there know his whereabouts?

Eightbore,

Remember our old "friend" (Bill not so S....)from "The Washington Post" who did the review of Michael McIntosh's "The Best Shotguns Ever Made in America" in the August 20, 1981, edition. He got hot into doubles, bought several from Headricks and others and was shooting up a storm down at the old Potomac River Gun Club? Last I heard he got big into Sharps rifles, moved to Montana and sold all the doubles.

I remember the post by Ol' Lightning where he explained that he had to step back from the board because it was causing marital problems. He apparently is now happily married---or atleast his wife is.

I corresponded with Ol'Lightning on a couple of occasions back during the times talked about here. He was a fireman in Amarillo, Texas at that time. No contact in several years now. I thought for a short while that Ol' Lightning was reincarnated as Amarillo Slim when this board first began!!

I remember when he used to post on antiqueguns....I remember he got real pizzed off when he made an offer on a Winchester 21 and the offer was accepted then the seller backed out of the deal....he ranted about it real hard for a while, took some flack from the guys to forget about it... then just quit posting...I also remember something about his wife fileing for divorce, and some to do with his kids.....He seemed like quite the character.......

BTW....He was always invitin folks to the TOP OF TEXAS CHICKEN SHOOT....and he also started some small parody hunting/double gun paper/magazine...
