A friend of mine picked up an old case by this maker today, does anyone have any information on their guns & the company
Just fixed the subject, I had misspelled Vaughan as Vaughn in the original post.

There was more than one Vaughn maker in the 19th century.
Very little of their history is recorded.
It is possible that they were not makers but sellers of other's guns.
The case is a treasure and should be retained for a gun that has the Vaughn name.Maybe a long time but, who knows?:]
Best,
John

C.B.Vaughan was a dealer in used/secondhand guns. They were based in London, and were in business from the early 1900,s until the 1950's approx. Here are two addresses that are on record for these people:-C.B.Vaughn, 39,Srand,London W.C.2
C.B.Vaughn,[Guns]Bedford Street,Strand,
London W.C.2
As a dealer in used/secondhand guns.Vaughn advertised as such in the British Magazine, Game and Gun, throughout the 1920,s. Here is a sample of his offerings in 1926!
Purdey: pair 12 bore ejectors in case.130 pounds stirling.
Boss:pair 12 bore ejectors, in case. 110 pounds stirling.
In considering these prices we should remember that the average wage for trades men in the 1920,s was 200 pounds per annum!

There is a C.B Vaughan 20-bore boxlock in the next sale at charlton Hall auctioneers in south Carolina.

His 'own brand' guns were almost certainly made up from Webley barrelled action s by the Birmingham gun trade.
