I’m in the very early stages of putting together a traditional English bolt action magazine rifle (Mauser). I have some samples to pull from, but I’d like a wider sampling to see the subtle trends. If you have any (or can direct me to) photos of a magazine rifle from an English maker, would you be willing to share?

Never went for peekaboo, but you might find something in their "Mauser gallery"......
There are some decent pics of guns, adds, and descriptions in Mauser Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles by Speed, Schmid and Herrmann chapter 19.

Photobucket seems to be having problems. I can look at MP's pictures but can't log into my own account as IE fails each time I open Photobucket.

When it is working I'll post a couple of pictures of a friends Dan'l Frasier in 9.3x57 built on a '96 Mauser.

Steve Hughes' book "Custom Rifles in Black and White" has some pictures of custom guns made in the truest British fashion. Mark Silver's .404 pictured in the book is the truest British styled rifle I have seen made in modern times. as It also has excellent pics of other styles of custom rifles as well and I heartily reccomend you pick it up. The great thing about the book is that a gunmaker was tripping the shutter. There are shots of rifles in there that are not found in any other texts. It would be a great reference for you while working on this project.

I would think that you had already checked out the big English makers, but in case you have not, here are some links to their sites

Kevin,

Not an English maker, rather South African. This is a Dakota 96 left-hand action (no Mausers in left hand, alas) that is married to a stock that used one from a .350 Rigby magnum as template. The 14-1/4' stock suits well. The Leupold 1.5-5 Vari-X III mounts low enough on the 23-inch barrel for easy use with EAW pivot mounts. The second photo underscores that the caliber, .375 H&H is English.

Regards, Tim

375 H&H magnum.

Apologies for the poor quality as these were taken several years ago when my camera and skills were both of lesser quality.

These are the only pictures I could find on my harddrive.
