My favorite shotgun for Trap Shooting or Sporting Clays is a 12 ga. hammer gun that I adapted a beavertail for-end to fit it. Especially for Trap Shooting.

I ruled out the guard pretty quickly, found true "shooting glove" in the summer months be don't last as long, and they are expensive. I now opt to get golf gloves both right and left hand, the dye doesn't come off on the wood or your hands.

OK. Would someone explain to me just why anyone would want these things on their guns. What good are they? Does anyone grip their gun in front of the wood forend? If so, Why????

Poor ol' Lloyd. Here he was showing off his pretty gun and now everything is down the pipe. That's okay Lloyd. You just enjoy what you enjoy okay? Don't let us ruin your fun. ✌

It is a nice guard, looks well made, traditional(I’m a fan) and the if had to have one it’s what I’d be looking for.

On some of my S X S guns, which have very short splinter forends, I do grip slightly ahead of the front of the f/e. I have longish arms and it feels wrong to grip way back in a strange place just because the f/e is short. I am a creature of habit who likes consistency in my shooting. But, I shoot a lot of different guns with different configurations, so that's my reason.

That's just my reason.

May God bless America and those who defend her.
