Hello Everyone, and thank you very much for allowing me to join your fourms, i was told this is the MOST knowledgable place to bring my pictures and questions. so if i may ill just get right to it.

So Recently at a Gunshow in Canada my spouse and i came across this Beautiful Drilling, in 16x16x9.3X72R And we tried our best to look online and find more information about them,
But all we were able to learn is the Name Robert A. Schuler and he built highend drillings (this one being from the 1920's?? possibly?) and that german double guns and drillings are extremely difficult to trace lineage and most of that info came from this fourm on other Schuler drillings

We were hoping to learn pretty much everything and anything you fine folks can help us out with especially with the photo quality which i truely apologize for
also if possible a Value?? the Current owner has had it for 10 years and the gentlemen he purchased it from had appraised it at $10,000 but that was a decade ago

Passed thru the Zella - Mehlis Proof facility in August of 1927. Looks to be chambered in 7X72R?

The ammunition in the case was 9.3x72R though I'm not sure if it's correct or not, they certainly fit perfectly into the ammunition slots in the stock,

thank you very much for letting us know when it went through the proofing house!! We had assumed 20s but amazing to put an exact date and location to it!

Ah, I now see 8,6mm X 72R so yes, 9,3X72R


Can you provide the name on this opposite side of this town, Ludwigshafen ?

Ah, I now see it is A. Schüler of Ludwigshafen, Ludwigstraße 18 and not Robert Schüler. A. Schüler hung out his gunmaking shingle in the 1870s and specialized in Military style/type arms. He had some close association with the mechanics in Liège, Belgium. A. Schüler had a client in 1926/1927 that placed an order with him for a Hahn/hammer drilling and Schüler in turn placed an order with the mechanics in Zella - Mehlis, which were cheaper and looked down upon by the mechanics in Suhl, which would have been Robert Schüler, etal. Sourcing a hahn drilling @ a cheaper price allowed A. Schüler to pad his pocket a bit more. There must have been several generations of A. Schüler and I do not see any relation to Robert Schüler of Suhl. Now they could have easily been related but I do not see any cross-sourcing of sporting arms and see zero effort by the Robert Schüler contingent. A. Schüler peddled Sporting Arms & Ammo.

I wonder if Ludwigshafen a. KH & Ludwigshafen am Rhein are the same city? Our inland German folks may have to sort that?

Ah, strike that >>KH<< and make it >>RH<< and it would be one in same. So Ludwigshafen am Rhein. All the records were more than likely lost in the bombing effort in WWII??

It was offered to us for $5,450 CAD
And we've kinda fallen for it but just aren't sure if the price is high or low, or if it's a good buy or bad
