I've done a couple leather covered pads, but not leather faced pads. Do you flatten the pad and glue on the leather? What thickness leather is best? What about the screws/screw holes?

Every leather faced pad Ive seen has covered the recoil pads screw holes. The leather has been fairly thin also, at least from what I can remember.

The fellow who did the best covered pad I have ever seen also did a faced pad for another gun. He treated the plugs as he would have on a covered pad. He leather covered the plugs. It is a wonderful job. Should cost about a third or fourth of the covered pad and looks better than about 90% of covered pads I have seen. Most guys doing covered pads should quit practicing on customer's guns and convert over to leather faced pads with plugs. They are really quite elegant.

Battle' & 8b. Have photos of Leather Faced Recoil Pads, Pigskin. Goat,And the Toughest of all..Elephant Ear! I made them with removable plugs as the Client had me make Winter pad & Summer Pad!!3/8ths inch diff in thickness The L/F Pads I have fitted to Brownings, Perazzis,I made the One Plug Removable for the Allen Wrench detachable Stock Deal'Has worked out quite wellfor the 4 I've built.Will ask revdocdrew if he would "Be so kind to post pic" CC/dt.
