Upon return home from a delightful time at The Vintage Cup, there was a message on my machine that my RBL had arrived at my local FFL. Ordered 28 December 2005, straight grip, 14 3/4 inch length-of-pull, case hardened and 4X wood.

Wow - very nice!
What did you see for guns at Vintagers? Anything special?
I'm dying for a report!

Really pretty! How soon before we get a full shooting report? As many times & as much as you've helped others here, inclusive of myself, hope that it meets your expectations .. and gives good grins ;-) Mine does.

Nice looking gun. Was it paid in full or a deposit order?

In 20 years collectors will pay huge sums for RBL's with standard wood. Has anyone bought an RBL without 4X or exhibition grade wood?

It was paid in full. I was recommending them to others back then and my Wife asked if I'd ordered one. When I said no, she said "you better put my credit card where your mouth is and get one!" I shot two rounds of Skeet with it yesterday and except for high one I did well with it. With almost no pitch and a rather slick butt plate, you have to concentrate to keep it on your shoulder. One of my friends said he ordered his with the shorter LoP with the idea of adding a recoil pad. The gun weighs in at 6 pounds 3.8 ounces.

I like it. Good looking gun.
I had cancelled my deposit order several months ago due to intermitent quality problems I saw on the first guns. Obviously, they've addressed those. Not sure how long it'll be before they get to those deposit orders.
Either way, I'm envious.

Barnett had one cased at the VC. 4100$. Stock head to action shoulder was rough, curve not fair, and gapped. That acid etch scratching looked like something you'd see on Melmac dinnerware. Finish cloudy. I'm not a high-dollar guy but if my ship came in I'd be clipping a lot of 4K price tags off a lot of other guns before this one. But I guess they have modern barrel steel. Maybe they're extemely well-regulated? Maybe they'll be the darlings of collectors. Lot of maybes.

Congratulations! I think your RBL is lovely! My wife asked me why I wasn't ordering one as I was (it seemed to her, anyway) constantly talking about the RBL for a couple of months - that was the catalyst I needed and broke out the credit card a few days later. My RBL arrived in mid-September! I posted pics of mine a few minutes ago - it is a 3x level, medium dark, satin finished one. Congrats again! Hope you really enjoy it!

I've yet to go straight at Skeet with it, but it is blooded now. I got the first two Pheasants I shot it at this morning. I winged the third, and retired the RBL because I hadn't brought the choke tubes with me and it still had the skeet and IC tubes in it that it came from the factory with. Birds were running and flushing wild. Got a double after lunch with the old Remington Sportaman 16-gauge. Pretty heavy to lug around after the RBL though.
