What is the best way to set up a Silvers, I've noticed a lot are rounded out, was this originally done or have they become round over the years?

You can file a Silvers pad to shape the rounded edges. Finger nail Emory boards work well too. I use a 6"x 48" belt w/ 80 grit for removing the bulk of the material.

So rounded edges would be traditional for a British boxlock? I have the pad fitted.

Yes the rounded edges are more of a British thing, rare to see on a an American double.
