Never understood the thrill of shooting something in great numbers just for the heck of it...that you're not going to eat.

I stopped killing things just for the heck of it before I was 13 years old.

Myself I'd as soon shoot clay targets.

Are they really feeding large quantities of birds to hogs? Are they using lead shot?

This is the first I've heard of this.

Seriously?

All I can say is you would have to ask an outfitter.
They go somewhere.

Who knows, they may just sneak them into the dumpster at your local Motel 6 like people do with snow geese.

Lack of markets for game is a real issue with high volume shoots.

I have many area dairy farms where I shoot barn pigeons- farmers hate all the poop they distribute- I pick up my empty shells, and pick up all the dead birds I can find, and with the farmer's OK, I put them in the manure spreaders- where they can later help in the fertilizing process-- We can't shoot doves here in MI--but starlings and blackwing blackbirds are legal, redwing blackbirds are protected. If shooting something helps a farmer, I'd go along with it. Otherwise, for maybe the first time, I agree with ed and jOe. Killing for the "fun" of it is a sad act. I didn't always know that.
