I am in Jacksonville and would be glad to give you my opinion. Gunsmiths INC is located here also and they are very good with smoothbores.

I get that you want a 'smith close (although Florida is a huge state; I used to live there) so you don't have to ship the gun but with few exceptions, the best specialists are spread across the U.S.

I'm sure someone will be along to tell you who the Baker guy is, or the best for evaluating Damascus. I hate shipping my guns too, but that's just the way it is with this hobby. That's why there are periodic threads here about which common carrier is best to ship guns. There are barrel guys, action guys, wood guys. Seldom are they in the same place, although a 'smith may act like a general contractor and sub out the work he is not a specialist in. Good luck in your quest.

Update : This old L.C Smith maker of Baker 10 gauge pre 1884,
push the front trigger forward to open breach.
after much inspection and measurement I fired both barrels with the RST-10 ga, 2 7/8 length, 1150, 1 1/8 oz #8 shells, What a rush-
I'm hooked on these really old ones, It was a BLAST pun intended !

I had one of those in 10g also. Neat gun. It is considered an LC Smith. If the last two digits of the serial number are 09 let me know.

So many guns, so little time!
