Someone mentioned a Woodward action in another thread. Here is a pic of a clone that I am scratch-buiding to add to my collection of home built Brit single shots. Hole cut by EDM, barrel is 32-40. Forgot to include the breech block and cocking arm in the photo. Bottom hole is the retainer for the action plate, upper hole is for the extractor/ejector. Most data came from Winfer's book, but he did make a serious oopsie in the book, caused me to almost abandon the action! Some mods, such as coil spring action, spring return firing pin. Sloping arm is for a tang mounted safety.

The only original Woodward I have seen was a Holland and Holland in .240 H&H. It was a drop dead gorgeous lust inspiring rifle. Please show us yours again when you have finished it.

Dont blame me, you asked for it! My first attempt, Webley style round breech block. Sorta Henry style with left side lock, turned into a decent .22 rifle.

Is there a reason you put the hammer on one side or the other? Maybe for a lefthand shooter on the left side?

But really because the left lock was an Alex Henry "signature" thing, just like the groove in the fore-end. I am a Henry fan.. Alex that is.

Pics of the action closed and open. Slot in top tang is for sliding safety. Steel blocks in pics are for support, not part of rifle.

Where did you buy the drawings for the action ? I was looking for engineering drawings for a british action for ages and found little. American actions like the rolling block or the sharps can be found, but british stuff is gold dust.

I believe there are some drawings available for some Brit actions, but I cant help there. One possible source of info would be a query on the ASSRA forum.

Thanks dmcolonial. The problem is you need an action to copy to get the dimensions, angles etc. The assra forum i gave up on, it seemed to be grouch central.

There was a fellow that used to come to the Tulsa gun show from Michigan I believe that sold real nice display stands wooden. He had made molds from the H and H Woodward patent all the parts except the reciever. I traded for a set of parts but have lost his contact info. Does anyone else remember him?

looking good I am impressed.Anybody that gets out in the shop and makes something always has my respect. Yes I am Rodney Storie have retired and am getting some castings done again. I have made some new molds and am working on a Heeren at the moment and going to move to a new shop in the spring.

That guys stuff is nice, but the guy at I am referring to was more artistic and more expensive. I had sold him my Jeffery Farquharson mold and I would like to buy it back.
