I'm in the process of restoring a Lefever C and want to get the triggers done. They were gold washed but the jewellers I talked to don't even know what that means. Gold plating is the next option and somewhat limited where I can get it done. People who do it here don't think it is a good idea because it is soft and will wear quickly.

It has been suggested to have them brass finished and lacquered. Anyone have any experience with this.

What is the best way to go?

It is soft and will wear off with use, but if it's appropriate for the gun I would do exactly that. A little honest wear on the plating would just make it look better, IMO. Plating is just a thicker coating as compared to "washing".

I don't really are for gold washed or plated triggers, but agree that they should be put back like original. I've worn the gold off several new ones. Nice problem to have.

You're not going to live long enough or use it enough to wear the gold off. We live in different times and compared to the old days we barely use our guns.

Now that's the truth. I rarely use the same gun twice in a year for upland hunting. I use a Citori for migratory and it has a gold coloured trigger. I've used this gun extensively for almost 20 years and the trigger looks fine. Very little wear. Anyone know how it is finished?

Reliable Electroplating in Chartly, MA is the place to talk to.

I have used them for trigger plating many times. Mostly nickel.

Pricing is reasonable.

Brownell may still have the kits to do this with.

It ain't so, Joe.

I have absolutely worn the gold off my 20 ga. 687 SP II Sporting, since I bought it new in 2003. Gold is completely gone where my finger contacts it.90% of that was dove shooting.
