Beautiful & unique... Finally getting this back from Turnbull Restorations...it's a Griffin & Howe custom single shot rifle built on the Sharps Borchardt falling block action
Caliber: 22-3000 R2 Lovell.
Griffin & Howe build number on barrel: 1853 (circa 1941)

Turnbull's fixed the wrist and fitted a "new old stock" Mershon No-Slip butt plate (that took me several months to find) in place of the original that had melted over time.

08-13-2018 finally found the "before" pic of what the stock looked like prior to being given to Turnbull Restorations.

(thanks to skeettx for the photo help!)

It's still in the UPS truck on it's way to me... the photo's are from Turnbull. I've owned it for two years and haven't shot it due to the need for repair... gave it to Doug Turnbull at the Las Vegas show this past January and was notified this week of it's completion. Paid the bill and am anxiously waiting for the brown truck to arrive on Thursday...

I hope you have an appropriate scope to go on it, like one of my classic Unertls. Lyman Super Targetspots are OK on small bore rifles, but on a varmint rifle, give me a Unertl every time!

PS The "t" in Borchardt goes on the end!

Interesting tang on it. I wonder what that is about?

For my big rifles, when I really, really want to best accuracy, my 25x Lyman STS is the scope I much prefer over all my Unertls and Feckers. It is the most dependable and precise scope I've ever shot.

That is quite a transition in the stock shaping from the tang, to the comb nose, wrist and comb!

Also a very lloonngg forend although it looks G&H all the way with none of the hideous stock anomalies common to pre-war single shot varmint rifles. It is a Great rifle!

I preferred the STS to other scopes in my smallbore shooting days. They were light weight, easy to adjust the sights and easy to adjust for parallax, and have excellent optics.

However, my Unertls and Feckers seem to me to be more robust and appropriate for the world of varmint hunting, which subjects rifles to more rough handling than smallbore or BR shooting.

To each his own I guess. I like them all, but it is the STS for when it counts the most. It certainly has been robust, not to mention accurate, if not the most handsome.

Brent, it does look a little longer like it's been extended. Doesn't look like the blue took well there either. Maybe some odd welding in the past. Looks like the safety and set trigger have been worked on. Does the action look slimmed in the back ala Zischang?

Beautiful Borchardt!
As mentioned; to each his own. I prefer Feckers over all the others. But I have most older maker's scopes and enjoy them all. Just like the optics and center adjustment on a Fecker scope.
