I have to say I'm pretty sure I know who built this rifle, but who do you guys think built it? This is the rifle that got me interested in prewar custom rifles. A Winchester Model 54 in 250-3000 Savage with a 22 inch "Barreled by Griffin & Howe Inc. New York" heavy barrel.

Nobody wants to start the ball rolling so I will venture based solely on the inlays, James Howe. Now everyone can correct me if I am wrong LOL.

the stock bull's eye is the negative of the Marlin version. Not a big fan of either one. Does it have some sort of disguised function? Everything else is pretty nice, but the plastic or whatever it is, seems really out of place.

I'm not sure about Howe just because of the inlays. I would like to see the cheekpiece and PG cap and checkering. I have 4 Howe rifles but one doesn't have a Howe stock on it but has his name on the barrel. The other 3 have lots of weird parts to the checkering patterns and inlays but nothing like the above rifle's inlays. Dan
