SKB, The rim diameter of the 11.2x70 is about .468"(rebated head), maybe the client is overlooking the bolt, thinking it would have the bolt face opened up. If he can't find it, maybe you could fit a normal 98 bolt ( or mag. if long action). Off the top of my head, I don't know whose mark "Stogos" is.

Mike, I believe you are correct in that the bolt face is a standard 8x57 bolt face and another bolt could likely be fit very easily. He is going to keep looking before I do any work on it. Thanks for the input. Steve

Steve, In the meantime I have been informed by a knowledgeable member that the name comes from "Stoltz & Goessl", but there is some confusion over their given names. He has a double rifle marked "Stogus" and asked that you post a photo of the company name/logo, so he can compare them.

Ford:
I believe it was Johann Stotz and Leopold Goessl and Stotz became the sole proprietor and fell on hard times or the like by 1930 and the concern was absorbed by another maker. So acronym or trademark began as STOGOS AND morphed into STOGUS.

By the way, the Stotz und Gl concern was established in 1923.

SKB Thanks for the photo. Raimey, My source agreed that the name Stogos morphed into Stogus. I think some sources reversed the given names. That they fell into hard times was more or less confirmed, also, but this wouldn't be unusual at the time. Mike

SKB, Do you think you could post a photo of the proof marks on the bottom of the barrel? Mike
