My 7X57 on a G 33/40 action weighs a good two pounds less and has been one of my favorites over the years.

As far as the extra 2K is concerned, just wait, I seriously doubt that it will be snapped up at that price. Cabelas is pretty good about dropping the price on rifles which don't immediately sell.

The weight does kind of defeat the purpose of using a G 33/40 action doesn't it? It is a nice rifle and has a quality scope to go along with it but truthfully if I had $2000 laying around it would go towards something older or maybe some stock blanks or rifle actions.

Someone thought it was a nice rifle,,

The much sought after G33/40 action probably helped sell it fast, but I agree it seems out of place on this particular hefty rifle.

Maybe they have plans on switching out the action with a more mundane M98 and sending it down the road. Hoping to profit in the G33/40 action (orig bottom metal?) at a very fair price.
Nice wood,,I don't know anything about the value/quality of the optics.

I just don't see the value except for the sum of the parts. Action, scope, trapdoor buttplate and the start of what might make a decent stock. IMHO, the cheek piece is ugly and needs a rasp taken to it to bring the comb into line. That would she a few ounces. Ugly mounts don't lend much to the overall effect. To me it would have to be a project in need of finishing. I guess that is what makes the world go round, different strokes for different folks.

You're right, 2 ozs is not a big deal.

G33/40 13.4 oz, stripped
VZ -24 15.5 oz, "

I milled and ground a duplicate of a G33/40 action, one time. The weight savings definitely were not worth the work involved.
