Of course guns are not toys, but I guess, a little boy had a lot of fun at the end of the 19th century.... :

At 80 I'm in my "2nd Childhood", wouldn't mind having a "Toy" like that to play with now.

Love the octagon barrel and engraving. Nice touch of gold at the muzzel end. Very lucky boy indeed!

It may not have been for a boy, maybe for a Jaeger in the off season.

Mike, may be, but if you have hold it in your hand, you would tend to a boy's rifle...
But of course it's also a wonderful toy for hunters. wink

Lovely w/ the Mannlicher / Mannlicher Schoenauer style stock.

Wolfgang, did you make a stab @ the calibre? I'd say the custodian @ in the early to mid 1890s traded it in for a newer modell??

Gunwolf,
Did you buy it? If so, maybe we can ID the nominal caliber, and maybe you can shoot it.

Mike, unfortunately it's not mine. It's for sale, but about my budget. The gunmaker is sure, we can shoot it. If we do, I will let you know!

Gunwolf,
Thanks, I'm interested in these old cartridges. My current project, when I feel like it is a 10x42R on the MB, it's likely a little larger than the Dreyse and is in a BF with 16ga.on the other side.

Mike, I just see that I was a little bit imprecise, because I didn't mention the caliber...
It is a small one, probably 6mm Flobert or .22 short or long... We will test this.
Sorry for beeing unclear!

Mike, to be honest, I don't know, but I think so, because the gunmaker who owns it says it's a 22 short or long.I will clear this.

I was asking, because I wound up with most of a Tip Up in 297-230 Morris, and I would be interested if someone loads that cartridge. BTW, the Morris came in long and short versions. It is a centerfire, about the power of 22 RF.

Geo.
Thanks, I had this site on my favorites, but something is wrong with my computer right now and several sites won't come up. BTY uou can make good 43 Mauser from 45-90 cases( also 43 Spanish).
