If you like well-preserved English hammer guns (esp. Purdey), take a look at what is on offer at Watson Bros. They have been slowly adding some amazing inventory over the past month or two. Does anyone know if these are consignments from a significant collection? Watson Bros Pre-owned

That site is dangerous. A lot of interesting guns there in wonderful shape from what I can see.

Owen, The hammer guns are interesting. However, how many H&H Royal side levers were made? H&H SL Too bad it is missing a trigger. Ken

Question is whose single trigger did they use. From a particle standpoint if it works now there is little reason to worry about it now. If it fails you might as well have them make you a proper pair of triggers for it. Its only money.
Speaking of rare I saw a thumb opening Boss gun the other day. First style from what I could tell. That has to be a rare bird lasting nearly 150 years. Never say never.

Jon, I have one of those elusive Boss thumb-openers (2nd Purdey patent) made in 1871. It is a real pleasure to shoot. I shot it on a driven shoot and a follow-up semi-wild pheasant hunt at the first of the month after a year of having everything sorted out on the gun. It accounted for at least 30 pheasants on the hunt.
That side lever is really cool, too. It went on the website and "under offer" the same day.

Nice...expensive...but nice. It's interesting to note that Watson Bros and EM Reilly apparently shared a Trade Label maker at one time... as pointed out on the Reilly line.
