So many opinions...and so little data.

Mine is perfectly regulated and has fired 15,000 rounds.

A gem.

That's my thought exactly. Most negatives are probably from people who never even seen one, let alone fired one, mostly hear-say and just something to talk about.

Can't say that I recall reading anything here about barrels blowing or choke tubes blowing out, or about serious regulation issues. I didn't have any of those issues with mine. Found someone who thought he'd like it more than I did . . . and learned that he sold it to someone else.

But if you have one that you bought when they first came out, you can likely sell it at a nice profit.

As an accumulator of fine doubles, I strongly considered buying a RGL several years ago, and handled a fine looking example of one priced about two grand. But yes, I had read so many reports of serious defects that I reluctantly passed on it. I am surprised to hear all the RGL owners claiming they never heard of the many reports of major barrel issues, among others. I have read a dozen or more such accounts over the years. True, I have never personally witnessed an RGL shoot its choke out, but I have no reason to disbelieve all the reports from others....here is but a small sampling of what I am referring to...

A computer virus threat was detected on one of the above links. I think it was the bad safety. Beware!

I had that problem and sent it back to Ruger and they fixed it without a hitch. They fixed it when they replaced the wood on mine. When I bought it the wood was plain Jane and all the ones I had seen advertised and new not for sale demonstrators at gun shows had really nicely figured wood. I called and complained to customer service about their false advertising and they had me send it back for a new stock and forend of really nice wood. They fixed the safety at the same time. BTW, I bought mine new for $1450. I had it paid for before it ever arrived at the dealer and once it did he tried to go up on the price. I told him that my attorney would be in contact with him if my gun was not shipped. It came to me a few days later. I have nothing but praise for the GL, but also agree one a poster here that a waterfowler with those loads will NOT be happy to shoot it very much. It is death on pheasants and a joy to carry all day. Mine is a keeper!!!

i wonder how many people who claim they've never had regulation issues have ever really shot the gun to test the POI compared to POA. Not pointing a finger at anybody in particular, just wondering.
