I got this unmarked 8mm sporter many years ago from the uncle of a friend that brought it back while he was stationed overseas sometime after WWII.








No makers marks except the name in the barrel channel. Never did anything with it, was always in the back of the safe. A few weeks ago I was doing some sighting in of another gun and needed something else to shoot while the barrel cooled. I had 1 box of PMC 8mm Mauser ammo so I brought it along.

AT 100 yds. with a rough bore and those tiny sight's, I was pleasantly surprised.......

Question: on that hole near the red dot in the centre, was it the 1st shot, last or better stated, when in the scheme of things did a round land there?

I'm thinking it was first, then the group opened up, but can't be sure, it was a casual exercise.

I have a very similar no name German sporter. I can still shoot irons and it has become my very favorite woods rifle. It shoots well with Privi 196 grain loads.

My eyesight opens up groups using iron sights these days...
