rollback,
You might find New England Custom Guns helpful. You should be able to identify the drilling more precisely to them. It is a little bit uncommon, while broken ones are not too uncommon. You didn't say which one is missing. In many drillings it is necessary to take the rifle's firing pin out before taking the thumb lever out, and reinstall it after the thumb lever. If the rifle firing pin is the one missing, maybe it was damaged in trying to disassemble the drilling, and not replaced then.

How much is he wanting to charge for making a firing pin?
Mike

p.s.amazing how a Remington 1100 firing pin can be adapted to many guns.

Thanks for info. Gunsmith brokerage the drilling so don't feel he will charge much, but he's very busy and would rather just buy one.its the bush firing pins for the shotgun barrel.they just screw out and drop in with small spring.

rollback,
After seeing the gun and the price, I would demand he repair it as part of the deal. Check Simpson Ltd., you can get a much better deal on a drilling that needs some work. You will likely find one that suits you now at less price than the one in question( I have no connection with them, other than having bought a couple from them).

FWIW, Simpson's is even having a sale on some of their drillings, knocking several hundred bucks off their already-pretty-good prices. They are also pretty darn accurate when it comes to describing the condition of the guns, especially the bores.

I got a very nice 16x16x8x57R drilling, proofed 5/82, from them last year, including an excellent scope, left-handed stock (I'm lefty), for less than half of the price quoted for the gun linked to above.
