This fellow has very nice leather reproduction labels. He says he has others not listed. If you don't find an original one, he may be able to help.

You might try Larry and Gary Davidson. A couple of nice guys who had an engraver make a stamp in order to copy the leather Henry case labels. I had one at one point......no telling where it is now. At least one of them, if not both, are board members.

CJ, I copied and pasted the address I listed above. It worked to find the fellow's offerings on ebay. If you contact him, possibly he can help. He seems to have very nice products.
click on one of his labels, or the item no. KyJon lists, then scroll to the bottom to the "ask seller a question" .

Thanks SKB for your kind words. I have a friend who has made some Alex Henry labels. The quality of them is BETTER than the original, he has even gone so far as to use the same kind and thickness of leather! He has also worked on a Holland label. You would not believe the quality of these labels! The labels I saw were of the older type you see in the 1870-80 cased sets. I will contact him and see what he has and report back. I don't want to give his info out without his permission. His work is beyond belief, much much better than my brother and I tried. Gary Davidson

I will second that , Gary.
Jim's labels are absolutely period correct, meticulously researched for accuracy, and only historically correct and first class materials are used in their construction. Truly Best Quality.
The only reproduction labels I would consider putting in a case.

Gary:
Would you mind asking your friend if he has a template for a maker S.A. Leonard? The rib indicates a presence in Birmingham and New York.
I've struck out with all of the usual sources.

Remington40X, Jim, as far as I know, only has done the Holland and Alex Henry labels. From what I remember, it is quit expensive to tool for a label so only higher volume would be worth it. Mike is right, the quality is perfection!

Daryl,Steve,John...thanks for helping out, its much appreciated
There is this double rifle I've been working on for quite some time now, came in a crock oak and leather case with engraved silver plated hardware and all the accoutrements...its quite a piece of work, the label however is a bit of a mess so I think a new one is in order Gary, is there any chance you can ask Jim if he has a label I can purchase
Thanks
CJ

CJ I will send him an e-mail tonight and ask him. The labels I have seen where from the black powder cartridge era.

GaryD007,
You may be inundated. I'm looking for a MacNaughton & Sons, and a W & C Scott (London gun) labels. Most of the MacNaughton labels I've seen are very plain while a badly worn one was quite extensive. I am holding out for an extensive one. I also have a pic of a badly worn Scott label that is bit more work in Illustrator and Photoshop than I want to undertake. Would you ask if your contact has either of these.
Thanks.

Hi Tamid, I sent an e-mail asking him what he has. Almost sure he only has done Holland and Holland, Alex Henry and Fraser labels. Jim sent me a lot of pictures when he was making the Henry labels. You would not believe the amount of detail on the dies. Did you try Peter Dyson and Son in England web site? They have many label copies and are pretty good, but not in the same galaxy as Jims. I doubt he would make other labels as he is very busy in his job and has many hours just getting set up to do one type of label. As Mike Rowe is the best in the country making English accessories, Jim is the best label maker!

Hi Prairie Ghost, I will as soon as I hear back from him. Sometimes because he is so busy it takes him a couple of days.

Sorry guys, Jim has sold all of the labels he had made. He is too busy at work right now to do any more. I imagine he will do another run later.

Jim is a good friend of mine and I have seen all his labels. They are made in exactly the same manner as original labels - gold leaf on leather. It's hard to describe the quality. Here is a high resolution photo of Jim's H&H label right beside the corresponding "original" label in my gun case (1901 H&H .303 hammer double rifle). (Jim's is on the left.) Note: my label is from 1901. It's the "King of Italy" label. Jim's label is the later "King George V" label. Nonetheless, his is exact. If you right click on the photo and select "Open image in a new tab" you will get the full resolution picture. Curl

This fellow has written a book on Henry which will be out soon. I am awaiting notification from him when it is ready. He works for Dickson of Edinburgh who took over the Henry name. He may have access to some originals via Dicksons. http://donalddallas.com/ Lagopus.....

I won this along with three others last week at auction. Price on the labels was not bad but shipping was brutal.

CJ, That and three from other makers should come in a shipment I have planned for mid-summer. Once it arrives I will let you know. If I decide to sell you have first right of refusal. Steve
