I continue to be intrigued by the various back-action Husqvarna hammer doubles, some of which have Damascus barrels. I know the latter subject is controversial, but suspect a Husky in decent condition would be among the most safely shootable doubles assuming proper case lengths and sensible loads. Nice thing about these shotguns is that many of them seem to be reasonably priced, and old enough that I don't have to go through an FFL.
Seems like one of these guns would be a joy to carry afield, and could also be used in an occasional Old West shoot.
Any advice, comments, experience?

I have a good friend who has bought a couple of these in the past year or so. They appear to be very well made, if not plain (I assume they are "field" grades). They are very lightweight and would seem nice to carry in the field. The only drawback I see is that if you shoot clays with them (and my friend has) their light weight along with a goodly amount of drop in the stock and the all steel buttplate will beat you up pretty bad. This, of course could be remedied a lot by picking one with a fairly straight (little drop) stock, adding a recoil pad and shooting the appropriate loads. Be sure to check the chamber lengths!

The older Husqvarna's have to be treated with the same respect as the older English or American guns. Having said that, they are well built guns. For the most part these guns were built for hunters and they show it.

If you are looking for some Husqvarna's give Ken B at Kebco a shout. He is a member here. I have purchased several guns from him over the years. He is honest as they come.

Thanks, gentlemen. Pete: I'm already in contact with Ken. Fritz: Already had your fine site bookmarked. Hope to have one or two of these shotguns in the safe soon.
