Does anyone know of good gunsmith who is accustomed to working on doubles and has the correct apparatus to raise a dent in the barrel and also ream chokes in chrome bores? I'm looking for someone with a reasonable price because I have purchased two guns with dented barrels and I also have a queue of chrome bore barrels that need their chokes reamed to something more useful. My local smith will do non-chromed bores for $20 per barrel, however he does not want to deal with chrome. I'd like to find someone recommended who can do both and I can ship all the barrels to them at once. I'm in the U.S. Thank you for any assistance...

I have considered Mr. Orlen, as I know he is generally very well recommended. Any ideas on his current prices for this kind of work?

Opinions vary, but you're now in the middle of the Original vs. Altered debate, as far as Chokes. Much depends on what gun you're talking about.

One position, (which I favor) in regard to Vintage Guns, is to consider using Spreader loads rather than altering the originality of the gun.

Merely my opinion, it's your gun.

Regards
Ken

There are options; Abe Chaber,Dan Morgan and any of the smiths that work on double guns can do this.

There are others who do this work. As a purist of English guns, I believe that Kirk Merrington, the English barrel maker is the best qualified for the work and I have always used him. His website lists his prices.
