Saturday afternoon on the Medford "Great Northern" clays course I broke the gun and the right hull ejected. The left hull remained in the gun and I noticed that the extractor blade was missing! Called a halt and nobody move!! A quick search and the part was found near my feet. Now how to repair? The extractor pin sheared flush with the blade. Can this be tig welded or laser welded? Can anyone recommend a smith to undertake the repair? If not possible, who could file up an fit a replacement? Bit crestfallen as I really like this gun and shoot it very well. Need to get it up and running again.

You should be able to silver solder that on.

The extractor blade is the flat piece with the rim cut and the pin is the piece that rides in the barrel acted on by the ejector. The break is flush with the flat rim cut piece. I am not sure silver solder will be strong enough to hold it together.

If you don't think silver solder will hold, It shouldn't be too hard for your gunsmith to make a new pin, screwed and soldered to the old blade.

On an ejector gun? the stem is half round.....that would be a trick I would like to see.

I suppose I could contact Atkin, Grant & Lang about obtaining a blank and have a good gunsmith fit it up. I do not recall a tight hull fit in the chamber that would have stressed the extractor so I am puzzled as to why it broke the way it did.

I shocked a few CNC guys by machining the impossible, or so they said. Gunsmiths have a few tricks as well but threading half a round on the edge of the extractor blade......I need to see it.
