So i have searched and searched another 30" substitute for the Ultra XS that had ported barrels(thats the reason i didnt buy it) and i found an ultra xt with 30" barrels and fixed chokes. The chokes are opened to Light Modified and Improved Modified( was full and light full as it is marked). The bore diameter that is stamped at the time of NP in London is 18.7 and it measured the same today. I will use this gun for primarily shooting wood pigeons and dove. It has 2 3/4 chambers. I would like to get some opinions on the cartridge ounce that i should use, and what do u think of these chokes? Besides something captured my eye and i am curious about it , the chokes of the gun when u look inside from the muzzle are clearly seen with your eyes as if it is a mobile choked gun, is there a particular reason for this or its just normal? I dont want to get screwed awaiting your answers.

Thanks very much

.015 & .025 should work well for your purposes. 1oz 7s. As to the chokes visually, it is difficult to say without seeing what you are seeing. Could be the person who did the work left machine marks or installed permanent choke sleeves but that is unlikely unless he screwed up opening them up and had to tighten them?

Is it possible that the gun is, in fact, 'mobile' choked with a friction drive system that uses no notches?

If so, you should be able to detect that by looking at the muzzle rims. I've seen that job done so well that you have look pretty closely.

As far as what 'we' think of the chokes, what matters is what 'you' think. And you can shoot any 2 3/4" shell you're comfortable shooting in that gun.

It likely has an inertia set second trigger, although that's not a 'for sure' until you try it. If so, it will require at least a snappy one ounce load to set the second trigger.

The bore size is standard Invector +, and the gun almost certainly has long forcing cones. It's intended for modern plastic wad ammunition.
