I need to adjust the shape of a trigger guard (straight stock) in order to get that little rear prong out of the way for the rear trigger to have enough travel to trip the sear. I don't want to screw it up, and could use some advice.

The trigger guard, that surrounds the triggers themselves, is a little flat perhaps which would be nice to correct too, but that prong needs to set closer to the trigger plate, and then there's that long prong nested in the wrist.

Thanks for your advice.

Trigger guards were bent to shape, when they were "born", so lightly bending it again, is not likely to hurt it. You might want to pad the plier jaws with tape to avoid scratches. If you can reach it , a small brass hammer might work, also. If this is the same gun with out of time screws(above), see my comments about another cause of malfunction having to do with wood shrinkage.

Same gun. Read your post, and thank you.

The curvature of the bends where the guard screws into the frame, and at the bend as it prepares to travel down the length of the wrist are the ones causing trouble. I'd prefer not to break it by working at it too hard, so I thought I'd ask.

I think a picture would attract more professional gunsmiths to your inquiry.

Some tweeking can be done with the guard screwed into the frame and the frame secured in a vise. Turn the guard 90 degrees. You can then lift up, push down on and pull the guard to alter it some.

What type of gun is it? Many German guns the guard is case hardened, most others are quite soft and easily bent.

Got it sorted out. Used some various sized automotive sockets of the diameter I wanted the curvature to be as backing. Thanks all.
