Looking for someone to re-bore the Ruger #1 I just bought from 458 Win Mag to 500 S&W. I checked dimensions and the old chamber will be cleaned out on the boring. Just need some recommendations as to who does good work. haven't had a rifle re-bored I 25 years.

JES has done work for me and my brother which has been fine. He does 50 caliber but I don't know about the S&W. Link => http://www.35caliber.com/

Why not just have Ruger do it?

Reto Buehler is a great rifle gunsmith and would be a good option: Buehler Gunsmithing

Ruger won't rebarrel a gun to anything except the original caliber, even if that model was available in other calibers.

That's disappointing news about Ruger. But then, they're all about making and selling new products rather than altering or modifying somebody's old one.
