Local small gun shop has a clean used browning 2000 gas operated auto 12 gauge for sale-has the left side loading port like on the older two-shot browning auto- how reliable are they?

Agree with Skeettx. Great design, they are well-made and reliable, all steel, no plastic or aluminum. They have a lot of parts, which were expensive to make and put together, so FN/Browning discontinued them.

My wife has a 2000 in 20 gauge. It's a great pointing and handling gun. Only downside is, if you want the gun to function properly, you have to have different barrels if you want to shoot 3" or 2 3/4". With my wife's gun, it has the barrel for 3". While it will eject and cycle 2 3/4" trap loads at times, it is not consistent but that's the way the gun was designed. Finding another barrel can be difficult. I have not found a 2 3/4" 20 gauge barrel yet.

I should have said I haven't located a barrel in Canada. $400.00 US for a barrel is at least $600.00 by the time I get it which is way more than I paid for the gun. If I don't find a used barrel at a decent price I will just stick with the 3".

This one has a 28" VR barrel, 2&3/4" chambers, choke marked with two ** on barrel-Modified?barrel markings, but my Galazan gauge shows Imp. Cyl.-- and it seems a tad butt-heavy, much like a Winchester M59--which this same small dealer also has with two barrels- one with 26" Imp. Cyl. and the other 28" with the Win-chokes- He is asking $375.00 for the @000- I field stripped it, gas system shows black soot- how sensitive to neoprene washers is this Browning 2000, in comparison to the Old Rem 1100-? Still thinking about it-RWTF

If it's a decent price I don't think you would regret it. There is a 12 gauge right now on one of our Canadian forums listed at $375.00. It comes with a 28" vent rib barrel and a 30" plain barrel. It doesn't specify if one is 2 3/4" and one 3".
