True, but "the gun" certainly pays well, when you're that good. A friend of mine was sponsored by Kreighoff for many years shooting NSCA competition, and world championships. Besides having shoot registrations paid, and most travel expenses, he received five new K80s to do with as he pleased, every year. And, he wasn't an Olympian.

No doubt, Beretta upped the ante and Perazzi folded. It takes nothing away from Perazzi guns, though.

True enough and sponsorship is the key but you have to shoot a gun that will take that kind of pounding day in and day out.

Beretta DT10 (not with the P and K guns, but darn tough and easily rebuildable)
Blaser (remains to be seen)
Kolar (maybe)
Caesar Guerini Invictus ( claims of a million rounds reliability, but unproven)

I agree. I equate Olympic shooting with auto racing. Its not a coincidence that some of the most highly sought after and reputable (and expensive) automobile manufacturers in the world compete n Formula One and IRL. Same as shotgun manufacturers in the Olympics.

The guys that run the hunting camps in South America don't they provide Beretta over/unders for their clients to use? They have to take a beating.

Perazzi is often referred to as the Ferrari of guns when in fact the case is that Ferrari is the Perazzi of cars

The reason that Perazzi is the overwhelming choice of international shooters is that it was designed to do nothing else. It is a competition gun and was never intended to be anything but the best one. Seems to have succeeded.

True enough but what I'm saying is that even though Ferrari has been one of if not the most successful opened wheel racing teams they don't offer their Formula One car for sale to the general public. But through racing and the maximum stress that puts on their automotive engineering they can learn what work and what doesn't work. Same as the other racing manufacturers, like Mercedes and Lotus among others.

Isn't Perazzi doing the same with their competition in the Olympics and elsewhere? And as an added benefit building their reputation across the globe.

No, Beretta gas guns, usually. I shot a 687 SPII 20 Ga. while there, but 95% of all guns I've seen there have been either Beretta or Benelli semi's.
