Also, Rio Grand sells polishing pins that are a couple mm in diameter and perhaps 5/8" long that fit in a small pin vise and I find the green one (very fine) works well to give that final polish to gold. Though they were designed for use in a Dremel, I use them for strictly hand polishing. I learned a long time ago to not put in the final detail on gold inlays until after rust bluing because the carding off process can wipe out detail and it also deposits minute amounts of the black oxide onto the surface of the gold.
